UK-India workshop on Renewables integration in the UK and India
A two-day UK-India power systems workshop was organized by the Electrical Power Engineering (EPE) group on 26-27 September 2024, on the topic ‘Renewables integration in the UK and India', featuring distinguished speakers from leading academic institutions in both the countries.
Other than University of Southampton, this included India's premier engineering institutes, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and IIT Dharwad, as well as Imperial College London.
Talks were delivered by eight speakers from these institutes, including
- Dr Abdul Saleem Mir, Dr Deep Kiran and Professor Biswarup Das from IIT Roorkee,
- Dr Pratyasa Bhui from IIT Dharwad,
- Professor Bikash C. Pal from Imperial College London,
- Dr Stratis Batzelis, Dr Bahareh Zaghari and Dr Abhinav K Singh from Southampton.
The talks covered varied aspects of power system technology, including modelling, stability, control, monitoring, estimation, pricing and aircraft electrification. The workshop was well attended and well received by the Electrical Power Engineering (EPE) and Vision, Learning and Control (VLC) researchers.
In addition to knowledge sharing, the networking opportunities provided by the workshop have sparked discussions for potential collaborations between EPE group researchers and IIT academics.
